Designed to be the starting point for creative exploration, the MODO 10 Series delivers powerful toolsets that enable artists and designers to create high-quality content for games, virtual reality, product design, creative media, and film and video projects. Starting with the launch of the MODO 10 Series installment, the series addresses the challenges users are facing in todays fast-paced production environments, and prepares them to face the dynamically changing requirements of the future. MODO 10 Series opens new doors for creating real-time content for games or for other immersive experiences like virtual reality. Among the highlights, artists can author in MODO and be confident that their assets will look virtually the same in Unity or Unreal Engine; get realistic detail into their real-time assets more easily through a streamlined, repeatable texture baking workflow; and enjoy new ways to export to popular engines featuring simple, automated steps that minimize the need to recreate work, saving time and reducing the potential for errors. Note: Those on Windows who do not need SolidWorks 2017 import support and those on Mac or Linux DO NOT need to update.
We have provided the same build for Mac and Linux for the small group of users who might need both SolidWorks 2017 support and also use Network Rendering with mixed platforms, which requires that all master and slave systems are running the same build number. The Modo 10.2v2 Release Notes are still valid, as the only change is SolidWorks 2017 support for Windows. The SolidWorks importer is only available on Modo for Windows. There is no update to the Modo for SolidWorks kit, the current kit will support SolidWorks 2017, once you have updated to Modo 10.2v2a. Substance plugin is available for free with MODO 701. Current Plugin version 1.1 Please contact The Foundry/Luxology support if you don't see the Substance Plugin in your Luxology/Foundry account. How to import Substances 1. The Substance importer is located in the Texture menu.
You can import a Substance by clicking on “Textures”=”Substance”=”Open a Substance” 2. You can now select a “.sbsar” file: Modo will import it and automatically create a Material Group with the Substance name. Rew audio measurement software. The Substance outputs will be automatically converted into textures and placed into the Material Group. Each texture has its Effect set to correlate to the specific Substance Output the texture will control.
You can apply your material as usual; for example select your objec t, press “m” and select your Substance Material. Once your Substance is imported, you have the ability to modify the parameters to fine-tune the results.
Select one of your Substance items in the Item List and click on “Substance Properties” - the tab on the right-hand side of the “Properties” panel. You'll have the ability to modify the exposed parameters. It is possible to customise the look of your Substance further by changing its Effect in the 'Effect' Column. To do this:.
Open the Material Group of the Substance you want to alter in the shader tree. Right-click on the 'Effect' next to the name of the Image Map that corresponds to the Substance Texture Output you want to change.
Choose the desired Effect from the contextual menu. (For example “Diffuse Color”.) You can also duplicate an Image Map, and the duplicate to a new Effect for even more variation. Emissive Substances Some Substances have an emissive output, which are designed to be used as an emissive texture. Here are some Substances of this type: “Electric Liquid”, “Energy Liquid”, “Energy Waves”, “Lava Rocks”, etc.
By default, the emissive output is connected to the “Luminous Amount” Effect of the texture. Schoolhouse pc. You’ll get an emissive effect, but the color will be uniform (depending on the material settings). In order to get the correct behavior in Modo, which is to display the emissive as a color, you’ll need to perform the following steps. Import your Substance in Modo, as you usually do (Textures=Substance=Open a Substance). Right-click on the emissive map name in the shader tree: you can now select “Duplicate” (to have a specific control on each texture effect), or “Select an instance” (which will preserve dependencies between the texture layers). You’ll then be able to use the same Substance texture with the texture Effect targeting the Luminous Color property of the material by simply changing the texture’s Effect:. To do this, right click on the duplicated texture’s Effect channel, and select “Luminous Color”.
The emissive color will be correctly displayed: You can alter the intensity of the glow by clicking on the “Luminous Color” image map you just created. Then go to “Properties” panel, “Texture Layers” tab, and change the “High Value” percentage.
Opacity with Substances Some Substances have an Opacity output and in order to control the transparency of some parts of the material, you will need to enable the Opacity output of the Substance. Here are the main steps:. Import your Substance in Modo, as you usually do (Textures=Substance=Open a Substance). By default, the Opacity output of the Substance will not be enabled:. To enable the Opacity output, select the Substance in the Item List, or select one of the Substance textures in the Shader Tree under the specific Substance material you want to adjust and select the “Substance Properties” tab on the right side of the “Properties” panel. Then, just enable the “Opacity” output: The opacity will be correctly displayed: Switching Engines (GPU and CPU) The Substance Engine is available in CPU and GPU modes.
Switching to the GPU Engine will allow you to work up to a resolution of 4096x4096 (4K) within MODO. To switch engines, go to TextureSubstanceSwitch Substance Engine. You will be presented with a dialog for switching engines. Please note, switching the engine will require a MODO restart. Once you have switched to the GPU Engine, you will be able to set the output resolution on a Substance to 4K.
9 modo has long been the application of choice for animation studios like Pixar Studios and Industrial Light and Magic. The latest update to modo improves upon an already amazingly powerful. One of the biggest complaints about the previous version, modo 501, was that character animation was noticeably absent. Has addressed this complaint and have included character animations in modo 601. You can make static 3D models and flatten them for images or you can give life to your creations with the new character animation feature.
The features that made modo great are still here. The rendering engine is faster than ever, physics controls and fluid dynamics make your animations realistic, and the amazing Pixar subdivision surface modeling is still here, making your models much more efficient by reducing polygon count. If you are modeling people or animals, there is a new skin and hair shading and texture tool to make your characters photo-realistic. Modo also has a great community behind it that continue to develop for modo to expand its functionality and ease of use. Luxology also has a section on their site that allows uses to preview and purchase new kits. Overall, its easy to see why modo 601 is the de facto 3D modeling application for professionals. Its ease of use and powerful feature set make it one of the best tools for artist and animators.
Modo supports the following formats Luxology Scene LXO, SolidWorks 2012, 2011 and 2010 Model sldprt, sldasm., LightWave Object LWO2 LWOB, Autodesk DXF, Autodesk FBX, Autodesk 3DS†, Videscape GEO, Adobe Illustrator EPS, AI, Adobe, Photoshop PSD, Wavefront OBJ, COLLADA DAE, MDD (animation format), Alembic, Luxology Scene LXO, SolidWorks 2012, 2011 and 2010 Model sldprt, sldasm., LightWave Object LWO2, LWOB, Autodesk DXF, Autodesk FBX, Autodesk 3DS†, Videscape GEO, Adobe Illustrator EPS, AI, Adobe Photoshop PSD, Wavefront OBJ, COLLADA DAE, MDD (animation format), Alembic Author's review. Modo 202 delivers the next evolution of 3D modeling, painting and rendering in a single integrated and accelerated platform. While modo provides important advantages across modeling, painting, and rendering, it is truly greater than the sum of its parts. Each part of modo was designed to improve the capabilities and workflow possibilities across the entire platform. What does all this mean for you? Most everyone in 3D design will find their own reasons to love modo.
The one thing we all have in common is the opportunity to use modo to create faster and work more elegantly than ever before. Model modo's modeler is the fastest, most advanced polygonal and subdivision surface 3D modeling environment available. Paint modo's paint tools provide one of the most natural painting experiences in 3D.
And by incorporating procedurals into the layering process, your creative options are nearly limitless. Render Don't sacrifice quality for speed. With modo's integrated renderer, you get both.
